Before You Go

The health care providers and clinics we’ve listed are dedicated to serving teens throughout Detroit. Their adolescent experts understand your needs are different than those of your parents and younger brothers and sisters. They will want to answer all of your questions about sex, HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections (STDs), prevention, birth control, and other issues that are important to you. Their services are confidential—they won’t tell your parents or guardians unless you want them to.

At our Top 5 teen friendly clinics, you can also access sexual health services on your own. You don’t need your parents’ permission even if you’re under age 18. If you’re sexually active, it is important to get screened once a year for STDs/ HIV, more often if you have a new partner. Remember, your sexual health is your responsibility! Free treatment is available for people who test positive for HIV or other STDs.
