Looking to join an excellent arts program for teens in Detroit? At Teen HYPE, we use theater arts to guide teens into becoming leaders. Learn more.
The Teen HYPE Peer Education program empowers Detroit teens to discover their true talents, interests and potential for a bright future. By promoting self-expression through the arts, teens write and act in annual plays that address unsafe sex, teen pregnancy, addiction and other poignant topics. Our other programs also raise awareness about sexual-health, drug abuse and unhealthy relationships.
As a peer educator, you’ll have many opportunities to open your mind, make new friends and enjoy positive ways to live. In addition to writing and acting in an annual community play that addresses social issues that affect youth, you will plan and participate in service learning projects, and attend field trips throughout the Detroit area.
To apply, you must:
- Be at least 13 years old.
- Have an interest in the arts and serving your community.
- Have reliable transportation to and from meetings and events.
