Planned Giving

It’s been proven that inner-city youth who are actively involved in the arts, perform better academically than those who don’t. At Teen HYPE, we expose Detroit youth to various forms of the arts such as theater, music, poetry, dance and much more, so that they can find their passion and purpose in life through the arts.

We offer youth:

A creative outlet. Youth write, produce and star in our annual theater production in front of more than 5,000 Metropolitan Detroit students.

Workshops that prepare them for the next phase of their lives.

We help youth improve their public speaking, interviewing and communication skills. They learn proper etiquette, how to dress for

success, study skills as well as other tools they need for the next stage in life.

Exposure to the world and culture around them.

Youth visit cultural institutions and explore various forms of art,

literature and other mediums of creative expression for inspiration.

Legacy Gifts

If you appreciate Teen HYPE’s work in fostering a movement to build the next generation of our region’s leaders, please consider leaving a gift to Teen HYPE in your will as a wonderful way to carry your legacy forward!

Benefits of giving a planned gift:

1.  Planned gifts help ensure the future health of an organization near and dear to your heart.

2.  Planned gifts offer you the opportunity to support Teen HYPE in a more substantial way, perhaps, than you were able to during your lifetime.

3.  Planned gifts offer substantial tax savings especially on appreciated properties and securities. A planned gift can reduce income tax and avoid capital gains tax.

4.  Probate is an expensive and arduous process: giving a planned gift allows part of your estate to avoid probate. There are planned giving options for everyone! Contact your broker, accountant or attorney to learn more about the best option for your Legacy Gift.

1. Eliminates Capital Gains Tax- By donating your appreciated securities, you avoid the capital gains tax you would owe if you sold the securities yourself.

2. Enjoy a Timely Tax Break- At the of December, when tax breaks and timing are critical, securities can be deducted on the date you transfer them.

3. Claim the Market Value- By claiming the market value (versus the cost basis) of the securities, you enjoy a charitable contribution tax deduction equal to the average of the highest and lowest quoted sales price on the day you make the gift.
